I finally got access to the program that they want me to complete. The only issue, it’s very basic things that I already know. So I’ve been sitting here watching someone tell me things I already know, not very productive.
Luckily, they put out an open invite to create a web app for the team so I took that opportunity and am working on that while the videos play. I’m enjoying trying to build it. Although, I am still stuck on making the login page work. It’s more complicated than I thought, and I haven’t even made a proper database yet. The plan is to upgrade it later to use a database that would probably fix the issue I’m having right now but I am a bit scared to use databases again.
The look of the project? I’m glad you asked. It doesn’t… I haven’t added any stylings yet. BUT the login screen is all there, it must just actually function as a login page. Next step after the login functionality is to create the actual home page. I could work on that right now instead, especially since I should’ve started with that, but I don’t feel like it yet.
I’m hoping to start actually doing meaningful things soon. Right now, building the extra web app, it’s fun but not fulfilling since I can’t ask questions right now. It would feel more real if I could ask more questions.
The vibe of the workplace is very apparent. I like it. It’s like everyone is friends with everyone else. It looks like they have fun, even with the CEOs.
On the CEOs, the one has been here for the last 2 days. He’s really cool. It’s like he’s the dad that’s there. People joke around with him a lot which is cool. Maybe one day I’ll be confident enough to do that, not now of course.
Tomorrow we meet the rest of the dev team in Cape Town. Hopefully they like us. It will also be the first time I’m meeting my “boss” (he’s like the big guy in Cape Town but not the head of the department. I actually have no clue who my direct manager is.). I’m excited. When he interviewed me, I was really interested in the dynamics since he was fun.
Anyway, I should get back to actually working.
